telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. YOU WILL
BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS. These Telemarketers will eat up your free
minutes and end up costing you money in the long run. To prevent this, call
the following number from your cell phone: 888/382-1222. It is the
National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It
blocks your number for five (5)years. PASS THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS

Checked it out with Urban Legends. It's #2 on the top 25. According to UL, nothing will happen in 31 days (31 days from WHEN?), and telemarketers cannot get the cell numbers. On the other hand, it doesn't hurt to add one's number to the Do Not Call list for a little extra security. Certainly no harm in it, just not the dire condition portrayed by this message which, incidentally, has made the rounds in the past.
Calico's mom is right -- there's nothing to worry about here.
